    Recognizing that individuals who struggle with chronic pain & chronic illness face their mortality differently and daily, Home Hospice Association's Spoonie Death Cafés provide the opportunity for people with chronic pain & chronic illness to come together to talk about death, dying, and grief, and whatever these topics may bring up.

    Drop-ins welcome, but registration preferred.

    Ottawa Public Library is partnering with the Home Hospice Association to offer death cafés with various themes. Check out the OPL website for upcoming death cafés.

    Create an original artwork with professional artist Stephanie Browness. Get step by step instructions in real time as you create your own version of a pre-planned watercolour featuring poppies of the colour of your choice. All experience levels welcome. All supplies provided! Registration required – spaces are limited. 

    Stephanie Browness is a painter and art instructor who has been teaching in Ottawa for 20 years. She has worked with all age groups and firmly believes that anyone can make art. Stephanie holds a BFA in fine arts from the University of Ottawa and Master's in art history from Carleton University.

  • Restoring Old Photos

    This lecture is a demonstration of how to bring old photos back to life! The lecture will discuss different ways to digitize your photos and then provide a demonstration of how to touch them up using the free photo editing software Photoscape X (available for Windows and MacOS). Presented by Lynda Buske from the Ottawa PC Users' Group and the Orleans Photo Club.

    Join the Ottawa Humane Society and learn to be a good buddy to dogs! Participants will learn how to safely approach a dog, what to do if they ever feel afraid around a dog, and explore bite-prevention tips through role-playing scenarios. Family program for ages 4+. Registration required. 

    Depending on availability, a temperament-tested volunteer dog might join us!

    Hazeldean Library presents the Zoo crew! This program is geared towards school aged children. It focuses on giving  children the opportunity to hold and learn about live animals while teaching the importance of being gentle and respectful to all living creatures.

    The Zoo Crew is an animal education company that combines entertainment and learning to create an exciting experience that will be remembered! Committed to nurturing the human-animal bond.
