Some in-branch programs require registration with your library card. Please log in with your library account or follow this link to apply for a card online. You can also apply for a card in person at any of our 33 locations.

  • Tuesday Feb 4, 2025 at 3:30pm (series runs until Mar 04, 2025)

    Teams of two teen volunteers will share their technology knowledge with one older adult per session.

    Volunteers will help with basic use of devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. Some subjects that can be addressed include internet applications like browsers, email, calendars, social media, games, and file and photo management, such as Google Suite, OneDrive, and iCloud.​

    Register in-branch at the Ruth E. Dickinson 2nd floor hub.​

  • Tuesday Feb 4, 2025 at 6:30pm (series runs until May 27, 2025)

    For ages 13-17.  Interested in playing D&D?  Then join us for a D&D adventure.  Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role playing game in which your characters explore the world, solve puzzles and fight monsters.  Spaces limited.

    For ages 11-15.  Oh No! Someone has sprinkled Homework Love Dust in our room and it takes effect in 45 minutes! If we don’t find the formula to Activate the Anti-Love Potion soon, we will all be in love with homework! We will ask for more homework. We will write poems about homework. We will sing songs about homework. We will do our brother’s and sister’s homework, we won’t be able to do anything but homework All. The. Time! We must hurry to follow the clues, unlock the boxes, and find the code to the Anti-Love Potion Activator and stop the Homework Madness!

  • Sensory Storytime
    Saturday Feb 8, 2025 at 2:00pm (series runs until Jun 14, 2025)

    Join us for a program that features:

    • dimmed lighting
    • sensory toys
    • a smaller number of participants
    • an adapted circle time with stories, rhymes and songs

    During this program there will be opportunities for open play and a chance to connect with other families. The circle time portion of this program is offered in the last 20 minutes of the session. A family member must be present for the duration of the program.

    This program provides a welcoming environment and respects the needs of children from 18 months to 6 years who live with developmental disabilities and/or autism, or who show signs of a developmental delay.

    The Granny Squares for Warmth (GSFW) group was created in November 2020 as a Barrhaven-based group with a mission to create and donate hand-made blankets and shawls to people in need in the Ottawa area.  ​

    Crocheters and Knitters - please join us to make granny squares for blankets, as well as to join squares, and to crochet or knit blankets and shawls. Everyone is welcome!

    We meet to enjoy lively good-natured discussions of a wide variety of books selected by our members. All assessments, interpretations, and opinions are valued and respected. Everyone is welcome!​

    An evening storytime for children of all ages with their adult or guardian. Feel free to wear your pajamas (or not), bring along your favourite stuffie, blanket and your adult for stories, rhymes, and quiet songs.

    Ages 4+. Drop-in program. 

  • Friday Feb 14, 2025 at 10:30am

    A lovely day for slime! Register for this experimental slime science program. We provide the supplies and you supply the ideas! 

    For ages 7-12. Registration required.

  • Saturday Feb 15, 2025 at 10:30am (series runs until Mar 01, 2025)

    Stories, rhymes and songs for children of all ages and their parents or caregivers.  Drop-in program.
