Margaret endeavours to assist English learners strengthen their language skills through engaging conversations and discussions of some of the practical and cultural intricacies of living in Canada.

    Join us for the ultimate armchair travel around Europe. The European Book Club is offered in partnership with European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in Ottawa to promote contemporary European authors and their works.

    This session is hosted by the Austrian Cultural Forum.

    This session will feature Monika Helfer’s critically acclaimed novel Vati (published in English as Library for the War-Wounded). Set in the aftermath of World War II, Vati offers a tender yet profound exploration of a daughter’s relationship with her father. Helfer skillfully weaves personal and historical narratives, addressing themes of family bonds, memory, and the long-lasting impact of war on both individuals and society. Her vivid storytelling and emotional depth make this novel a thought-provoking read that resonates on many levels.
