    Do you love birds as much as we do? Come join us for an exciting kids workshop all about our feathered friends! In this workshop, we’ll learn about different birds in our community, their unique characteristics and how to identify them by sight and sound. We’ll also play some interactive bird-themed games that are sure to let your imaginations take flight! Presented by Parks Canada. Ages 7-12. | Aimez-vous les oiseaux autant que nous? Venez nous rejoindre pour un atelier passionnant pour enfants entièrement dédié à nos amis à plumes! Dans cet atelier, nous apprendrons à reconnaître les différentes espèces d'oiseaux de notre communauté, leurs caractéristiques uniques et comment les identifier par la vue et le son.     See the world through Cubetto's eyes! Create your own Cubetto adventure while learning the basics of computer programming.  Children will design their own Cubetto storyline and prop, and then test their creation. Ages 7-12. Registration Required.

    Participants are introduced to traditional Métis jigging, learning the basic steps before engaging in dances including the “Red River Jig”, “Heel-Toe Polka”, “Orange Blossom Special”, and a group dance called the “7 step”. The artist begins with the basics of the dance while discussing Métis culture and history from the fur trade to today.

    Max participants: 30

    Brad Lafortune is Métis originally from Sudbury, Ontario. Brad began jigging at a young age and started providing workshops and performances in 2009 upon moving to Ottawa. Brad studied at the University of Ottawa where he received his Bachelor of Science followed by a Master’s of Physiotherapy. Brad enjoys combining his passion for physical activity and wellbeing with a deep love and understanding of his culture. Brad believes jigging is an interactive way to physically engage individuals of any age, all the while learning about the intricacies of Métis culture.

    Les participants sont initiés à la gigue métisse traditionnelle. Ils apprennent les pas de danse de la gigue de la rivière Rouge, du Polka Talon-Orteil, du «Orange Blossom Special» et d’une danse de groupe appelée Le 7 pas. L’artiste explique les bases de chaque danse tout en discutant la culture et l’histoire métisse de la traite de fourrure à aujourd’hui.

    Brad Lafortune est un Métis originaire de Sudbury, en Ontario. Brad a commencé à faire de la gigue dès son jeune âge et a commencé à offrir des ateliers et des spectacles en 2009 après s’être établi à Ottawa. Brad a étudié à l’Université d’Ottawa où il a obtenu un baccalauréat en sciences suivi d’une maîtrise en physiothérapie. Brad aime combiner sa passion pour l’activité physique et le bien-être avec un amour profond et une compréhension de sa culture. Brad croit que la gigue est un moyen interactif de faire participer physiquement les gens de tous âges, en se familiarisant avec les complexités de la culture métisse.

    The YOU-nique program is all about empowering what makes you – and the animals around you - unique. Discover each animal's unique adaptation, how it makes them all special and how all the animals also benefit from each other's unique characteristics to overcome and problem-solve together. This program will feature LIVE animals, including the chance to touch some. Ages 4-8.

    Welcome to the amusement park – where we’ll be bumping, spinning, zipping and rolling! Discover the actions and reactions of bumper cars. Explore the forces at work when you spin. Create a zipline while investigating gravity. Design a roller coaster to meet a challenge. It’s all about the physics of riding ‘n’ rolling! Presented by Scientists in Schools. Ages 8-12.

    Join us for a tour of the Digitization Lab. This lab is equipped with bookable work stations that allow you to digitize your old photographs, slides and negatives, as well as your VHS tapes and 8mm film reels. This tour will be an orientation of the equipment, the stations and the online booking system.

    Are all rabbits the same? What do they need? What is a hare and where does it live? Does it have predators? As they explore these questions through games and investigations, kids can enjoy a face-to-face visit with a rabbit, and pet its soft fur through this program with the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. Family program for ages 4+.
