    Join the Ottawa Humane Society and learn to be a good buddy to dogs! Participants will learn how to safely approach a dog, what to do if they ever feel afraid around a dog, and explore bite-prevention tips through role-playing scenarios. Family program for ages 4+. Registration required. 

    Depending on availability, a temperament-tested volunteer dog might might join us!

    It's March Break and an eccentric relative has invited you on a surprise holiday someplace warm - if you can figure out the clues at the airport!

    Work together with other teens to solve the clues and unlock the way to your sunny escape!

    We will learn curious facts about animal tracks and even go on an expedition within the library!

    Discover what happens when science meets art! Explore perception as you use shadows, colour, motion, and light to create art from science. You’ll make a puppet, a spinning top and a kaleidoscope, as well as design your own galaxy. As Albert Einstein said: “The greatest scientists are always artists as well!” Presented by Scientists in Schools. Ages 8-12.

    For this program, Parrot Partners will bring at least 3 parrots, from different areas of the world, ranging in size from very small and ‘spunky’ to massive and ‘mellow.’  We introduce each parrot, one at a time, and share interesting and entertaining facts and stories about their natures and lives in the wild and in our homes.   Participants will be offered the opportunity to give our parrots a treat or drink from a safety cup or feeding skewer, as well as pose for photos with the parrots. Family program for ages 4+. 

    Parrot Partners is the only rehabilitation program for Parrots in Canada that combines professional training, education, and rehabilitation in the charitable service of relinquished and misunderstood parrots.

    The YOU-nique program is all about empowering what makes you – and the animals around you - unique. Discover each animal's unique adaptation, how it makes them all special and how all the animals also benefit from each other's unique characteristics to overcome and problem-solve together. Family program for ages 4+.

    Le programme YOU-nique, c’est la chance de faire briller ce qui te rend – tout comme les animaux qui t’entourent – unique. Découvre comment s’adapte chacun des animaux, ce qui les rend spéciaux et comment leurs caractéristiques propres leur permettent de s’entraider pour surmonter et régler leurs problèmes.     Get ready for a storytelling adventure that will test the limits of your imagination. We are playing Dungeons & Dragons: The Crystal Dragon’s Lair. Play as young dragons defending your home. Ages 10-12. Registration required. Space is limited to 6 participants. This program will be presented virtually over Zoom.

    If an elephant and a salmon became one animal, what would this creature look like? Inspired by the playful sculptures and drawings of Russell Yuristy, come play with some clay and sculpt your own imaginary critter. Ages 7-12.

    In this mask-making workshop facilitated by Ottawa Art Therapy Inc, participants will take a creative journey to express and uncover the layers of their true self, what is important to them, and the parts of their world where they find connection. The participants will be working with a variety of materials, allowing a multi-media approach to their process. This dynamic workshop offers not only artistic fulfillment but also a deeper understanding of who they are and a time to tap into their inner artist and connect with others on a similar journey. Ages 7-12.
