    This year, May the 4th is both Free Comic Book Day AND Star Wars Day! Stupendous!!

    While comic books are always free at the library (as long as you return them, of course) we also want to celebrate this occasion. So join us this morning at the library for some geeky (and family friendly) arts and crafts:

    • Super hero themed face painting (10:30 am to noon)
    • Star Wars themed colouring and crafts (10:30 to 1PM)
    • Make your own button with comic book art (10:30 to 1PM)

    Bonus points for anyone who shows up in costume or cosplay!!

    Continue the Free Comic Book Day celebration with a comic book movie double feature!! (Bonus points for those who show up in costume or cosplay and pose for a picture in front of our green screen!)

    • Intermission: cosplay picture time! (2:45PM to 3PM)
    • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (3PM to 4:40PM)

    Ages 6 - 12 years old (we will have crafts for younger siblings too).

    Learn to speak Wookie (or Wookie sounds): make your own loyal Droid Cubecraft; test a saber in dual circle; complete a scavenger hunt; learn the planets in the Star Wars universe; fly your plane through the death star and knock down some Stormtroopers. For the younger ones: make a Chewbacca puppet and a yoda or lei bun headband. Origami Yoda awaits you! (yes, we have to say it: May the 4th be with you!).

    Our storytime welcomes and respects the needs of children aged 0-6 years living with developmental disabilities and/or Autism, who may face barriers related to sensory experiences, show signs of, or are at risk for a developmental delay.

    A family member must be present for the entirety of the event.

    Presented by Dying With Dignity Canada (Ottawa Chapter), End of Life Options (including MAiD) is a workshop to educate people about the options available to mitigate or end suffering at life's end, including palliative care, treatment options, and Medical Assistance In Dying (MAiD). Workshop includes the current legislation on MAiD, the process for applying in Ontario and explanation of the experience by a loved one.

    Registration is required as space is limited.
