    Join us to discuss books from the science fiction and fantasy genres each month.  All are welcome.  Registrants are responsible for securing a copy of the book to read or listen to.

    This month's book is Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo.

    Journaling is a wonderful way to discover the world around you, so join us at the library to start your very own nature journal. Become a keen observer of the natural world by drawing and writing about what you see and feel when you look at plants and animals in your neighbourhood. All materials will be provided for participants.

    Black History Ottawa, the Ubuntu Legacy Network and the Historical Society of Ottawa invite you to the first of a three-part book club on Tom Zoellner's "Island on Fire: The Revolt That Ended Slavery in the British Empire"

    Learn how the forces of literacy and revolution brought an end to slavery in the British Empire. 

    This inclusive community safe-space legacy workshop series is part of the 2023 commemoration of the 230th anniversary of the 1793 Act to Limit Slavery in Upper Canada and the 190th anniversary of the 1833 Act to Abolish Slavery in the British Empire.

    The second and third sessions will take place respectively on March 25, 2023 and on April 22, 2023. They will both take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room B125 of the Main Branch of the Ottawa Public Library (120 Metcalfe Street).

    Our Storytime welcomes and respects the needs of children aged 0-6 years living with developmental disabilities and/or Autism, who may face barriers related to sensory experiences, show signs of, or are at risk for a developmental delay.

    A family member must be present for the entirety of the event.

    Maintaining healthy eating habits throughout the lifespan is important.  Participants will learn about changing dietary needs and eating habits as we age, reflect on their own eating habits, needs and challenges, discuss heathy eating, and explore opportunities to expand their options.

     Exploring stories, songs and learning stations focusing on letters, colours, numbers, shapes, measurement, rhyming and retelling to help your child get ready for school. This program is intended for children entering kindergarten in September 2023. Children must be ages 3 to 4 and must be accompanied by an adult.
