Are you interested in a free Podcast Club for Kids grades 5-7 (ages 10-13), in English at the Rockcliffe Park branch of the Ottawa Public Library?

In partnership with Chris White from CKCU FM radio out of Carleton University, a maximum of 12 kids, ages 10-13, will get a chance to create a “Best Summer Reads” podcast show, which will be broadcast on CKCU FM radio in May 2025.  This will include participants book recommendations, and an interview with Graham Annable, an Oscar nominated Canadian author, cartoonist and animator.

Kids will record their recommended books and 2 participants will get a chance to interview Graham, based on an interview script created by the entire team.  If 2 kids recommend the same book, they have the option of being recorded in a conversation talking about it.

Kids will get a chance to prepare, produce and present in the podcast.  This means they will:

    • Select, read and discuss books of interest
    • Research and write scripts for the recordings
    • 'Voice' the scripts – including voice coaching
    • Listen back to the recordings and identify areas for improvement
    • Select music to incorporate in the podcasts
    • Suggest ways to publicize the podcasts

***IMPORTANT: In order to produce this broadcast, participants must commit and attend every one of the following meetings.
