    New to independent reading? Join our family book club and discover great reading suggestions to get you started and keep you going. We will share favorites, listen to read-alouds and participate in book-related activities. For kids ages 6-8 and their adult reading partner.

    Writing group for teens 13-17, facilitated by the Stittsville Creative Writing Group. A member of the SCWG will help teens express their ideas in writing through a variety of lessons and formats. Encouraging the next generation of writers will strengthen literacy in the future.               

     Participants are asked to come prepared to write, with a device or pen/pencil and paper.

  • Poetry month

    With a focus on spoken word and poetry you will examine and explore poets and their work to make powerful statements. You will learn multiple poetic forms to use and express your own voice as well as learn to perform spoken word. Themes include: Using your voice, the power of voice and expression, joy and self-love.

    Materials you will need: Notebook, pencil/pen, markers (optional)

    Registration required. Registrants will receive an additional email with the Zoom link ahead of the program.

    Ariel Clarke is a Drama and Education Alumni from the University of Windsor. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in Teaching at OISE-University of Toronto. She has done various community work with marginalized/racialized youth, as well as has taught across multiple Elementary and Secondary schools in Ontario. Ariel has also done specific work in social justice education, poetry writing, and drama and acting, which has allowed her to spread her love of the Arts to new young minds today.
