    This workshop, presented by Dying With Dignity Canada (Ottawa Chapter), End of Life Options (including MAiD)  is to educate people about the options available to mitigate or end suffering at life's end, including:

    palliative care

    treatment options

    Medical Assistance In Dying (MAiD

    The workshop includes the current legislation on MAiD, the process for applying in Ontario and explanation of the experience by a loved one.  

    Adult, English event.  Registration is required as space is limited.

    On the last Saturday of the month, wear your pajamas, bring along your favourite stuffie, and come get cozy with us!  Stories, rhymes, and songs in English for children of all ages and parents or caregivers.

  • Family Literacy Day

    Join award winning author Jen Lynn Bailey for this special Family Literacy Day visit.  Students will explore the picture book "This is the Boat that Ben Built" through the lens of a reader, writer, scientist, and artist. They’ll discover how the author and illustrator work together to create a picture book, and how the animals of the northern river ecosystem are interconnected in the story and real world.  This program is for famillies to attend together.  Registration is required.

    Join us for the ultimate armchair travel around Europe. The European Book Club is offered in partnership with European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in Ottawa to promote contemporary European authors and their works.

    "In August, 1992, a boy and his mother flee the war in Yugoslavia and arrive in Germany. Six months later, the boy's father joins them, bringing a brown suitcase, insomnia, and a scar on his thigh. Saša Stanišić's Where You Come From is a novel about this family, whose world is uprooted and remade by war: their history, their life before the conflict, and the years that followed their escape as they created a new life in a new country.“

    Explore science through Carleton University’s popular Science Cafés. Put on by the Faculty of Science. 

    You are invited to join us for lively discussions around a scientific issue of the day. Be prepared to be informed, engaged and entertained, as our professors share their scientific discoveries and research with you. Each Café includes a 30 to 40 minute talk by a scientist followed by a moderated question and answer period.

    The Science Café series is free to attend and all are welcome!

    Learn the basics of using a sewing machine and craft your very first project: a drawstring bag. This two-hour session will take you through the steps of setting up, threading, and using a sewing machine. 

    The same lesson takes place once a month. Please register for one session only. Registration limited to 5 spaces.
