    Based on the thrilling and inspirational life of an iconic American freedom fighter, the movie tells the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America2s greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.

    Araminta « Minty » Ross est née esclave à Madison dans le Maryland. Elle appartient à la famille Brodess, tout comme sa mère et son père l'étaient avant elle. Un jour, alors qu'elle est âgée de 26 ans, Araminta tombe malade. Son propriétaire craignant qu'elle perde trop de valeur, il décide de la vendre. Ne désirant plus être ballottée comme du bétail, la jeune femme décide de s'enfuir. Elle trouve refuge en Pennsylvanie où elle prend le nom d'Harriet Tubman. Elle va devenir une militante en faveur de l'abolition de l'esclavage et fera tout en son pouvoir pour délivrer sa famille et ses semblables.
