  • children listen as a story teller tells a story

    Janet LeRoy and Kathie Kompass will lead this in-person, 6-part workshop series for children ages 8 to 11. Participants will have the opportunity to tell their stories in a safe space and learn to use storytelling as a means of conveying their experiences, values, and culture.

    **Please note, there is no workshop on April 22nd**

    Stories, rhymes and songs for babies 0 -18 months and a parent/caregiver.

    Maintaining healthy eating habits throughout the lifespan is important.  Participants will learn about changing dietary needs and eating habits as we age, reflect on their own eating habits, needs and challenges, discuss heathy eating, and explore opportunities to expand their options. Primarily for older adults.

    Presenter can offer information in French as well. 

  • Monday May 8, 2023 at 1:30pm / until Jun 12, 2023

    Primarily for older adults, this guided interactive and participatory drumming experience focuses more on fun than form, and is for anyone that has wanted to learn basic hand drum patterns and share in the joy of group drumming.  No experience is necessary- just bring your rhythmic spirit! ​

    Optional - your own hand drum (djembe, bongo) or rhythm maker (i.e  empty coffee canister) There will be some extra drums and rhythm instruments available for use.​​

    Note — please bring your own foam ear plugs or noise canceling headphones if sensitive to sound. Masks are optional, in keeping with current OPL policies. ​

    Participants will increase their knowledge related to mental wellness and resiliency as they age. Useful tools and ideas will be shared to help create tangible and concrete plans to support mental wellness. Issues surrounding COVID will also be considered. Primarily for older adults.
