    In this workshop, you'll learn the basic techniques to start making your own felted creations.

    Needle felting is the process of transforming animal fibres, like wool, into felt using a special felting needle. Learn how to craft your own needle felted creations!

    All materials will be provided. Ages 13-17.

    Learn how to more effectively tell the story of your vacations through pictures. Regardless of what kind of camera you use (cell phone, tablet, DSLR, etc.), Lynda Buske from the Ottawa PC Users' Group and the Orleans Photo Club will show how to use light, foreground, people, framing, and more to create a descriptive picture that needs no captioning.

    Join Eisner Award winning cartoonist Faith Erin Hicks as she dives into the process of making comics, from script to drawing and beyond. She will show young creators how they too can make comics. The only tools needed are a pencil, paper and an idea! Faith will also give a drawing demonstration with audience participation.

    This workshop is aimed at teens ages 13-18. 

    Faith Erin Hicks is a writer and artist living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her published works include The Adventures of Superhero Girl, Friends with Boys, The Nameless City trilogy, Pumpkinheads (with Rainbow Rowell), One Year at Ellsmere and the young adult novel Comics Will Break Your Heart. She has won two Eisner Awards, and Pumpkinheads was a New York Times bestseller.

    Recognizing that individuals who struggle with chronic pain & chronic illness face their mortality differently and daily, Home Hospice Association's Spoonie Death Cafés provide the opportunity for people with chronic pain & chronic illness to come together to talk about death, dying, and grief, and whatever these topics may bring up.

    Drop-ins welcome, but registration preferred.

    Ottawa Public Library is partnering with the Home Hospice Association to offer death cafés with various themes. Check out the OPL website for upcoming death cafés.

    Create an original artwork with professional artist Stephanie Browness. Get step by step instructions in real time as you create your own version of a pre-planned watercolour featuring poppies of the colour of your choice. All experience levels welcome. All supplies provided! Registration required – spaces are limited. 

    Stephanie Browness is a painter and art instructor who has been teaching in Ottawa for 20 years. She has worked with all age groups and firmly believes that anyone can make art. Stephanie holds a BFA in fine arts from the University of Ottawa and Master's in art history from Carleton University.
