Some in-branch programs require registration with your library card. Please log in with your library account or follow this link to apply for a card online. You can also apply for a card in person at any of our 33 locations.

    Get up close and personal with your photographic subjects such as flowers, insects, water droplets, or detailed parts of larger subjects or scenes. Learn how to isolate your subject from the background, and control how much of the image is in sharp focus. You can shoot up close with regular lenses and cell phones, but Lynda will also include a discussion about using dedicated macro lenses. Presented by Lynda Buske from the Ottawa PC Users' Group and the Orleans Photo Club.

    Do you have children ages 5-8?  Would you like them to read more?  Then join our weekly Reading Buddies program.  Each child will be paired with a teen volunteer for fun and interactive read aloud sessions.  Together they will share the joys of reading in a friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic environment.  Registration required.

    June 2, 9, 16 and 23

    Note:  Those who register for the May-June session will not be able to register for the April-May session and vice versa.

    Learn various ways you can organize your photos on your computer or in the cloud. You should be able to find even your oldest photos quickly and easily. Understand how to create backups so your photos are protected against theft, fire, or other disasters. Learn how to create a free on-line photo album using Flickr.

    Adults are invited to participate in a fun collage-making session! Explore your creative side and piece together something beautiful. Collages make nice greeting cards or posters to decorate your home. All supplies (scissors, paper, glue) will be provided but you are also welcome to bring your own materials.

    Technology and Social Media can be overwhelming.

    Teen Volunteers share their Social Media knowledge with older Adult in a two-on-one setting.  

    Areas of technology help will focus on user’s personal account use by initial setting up of the accounts and how use the site:

    Facebook

    Instagram

    X (former Twitter)

    Pinterest

    One hour= One topic

    If you want to cover a different topic from the list, Facilitator will need to approve it, as this is a one hour session.

    Meeting place: Teen Zone on the 3rd floor.

    Please bring your device fully charged (ex. cell phone, tablet, or laptop).

    Please provide a phone number we can contact you about your topic.

    You can sign up for one session and one waiting list slot per quarter.

    Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools have exploded over the last few years. They can supercharge your web searches and help you find the most relevant information. They can generate images, personalized songs, summarize long text, describe the content of videos, and more. Chris Taylor from the Ottawa PC Users' Group will show you how easily it can be done and how to detect dreaded "AI hallucinations". And you can do it all for free.
