    Come and discover the journey of the author and comic book writer Éric Péladeau, judge of the Awesome Authors youth writing contest. You will learn the steps followed to create a comic book and what it takes to become a comic book artist. He will also give you a few tips on how to create an exciting comic strip. Ages 9 and up.

    Since the dawn of time, storytelling has been an ancient art form of conveying crucial information from generation to generation, helping communities to grow and helping children to engage with their creativity and imagination. This 75-minute workshop with Jacqui Du Toit focuses on engaging participant's imagination with theatrical games and voice exercises. Participants will learn the art of retelling stories from the motherland. Ages: 8-14. 

    About Jacqui Du Toit: 
    Born and raised in South Africa, Jacqui Du Toit is known for her animated stories from the mother land. By combining gestures, movement, singing, facial expressions, and dramatic impersonations that spark the audience, Jacqui knows how to captivate the audience with more than just words.

    Bruce Narbaitz is the writer of "Grr Umbler and the Hunt for Happiness," a playful and profound picture book about the magic of gratitude. During this interactive presentation, Bruce will read his book, answer questions about the writing process, share his #1 Thankfulness Tip, and facilitate fun Gratitude Games. For ages 5-12 (or any age that needs a gratitude boost!). Presented in English. 

    Bruce was raised in Blackburn Hamlet, where he learned to read, frequented the library and started his writing journey.
    He is grateful for fresh air, the sound of Rice Krispies, and any opportunity to be silly.

    Dive into the captivating world of character development using the fun and imaginative world of the animal kingdom and bring your stories to life. Participants will develop skills in oral language and body expressions while expanding their understanding of archetypal animal characters found in folklore, mythology, and literature.

    By the end of this workshop, participants will have a toolbox of techniques, insights, and inspiration to create captivating characters that resonate with diverse audiences.

    Presented by Jacqui Du Toit.

    This workshop is intended for ages 10-18.

    Do you love graphic novels? Do you have a super cool, super fantastic idea of your own? Come join 
    award winning author, illustrator, nice guy Rob Justus for a fun workshop on how to create the greatest 
    graphic novels ever! Learn how to create immersive worlds, detailed characters, and most importantly 
    how to pace a story from panel to panel, and page to page. Bring a seedling of an idea and leave with a 
    garden of graphic novel knowledge.

    Teen program, ages 13-18.

    Registration opens on Monday, February 10, 2025 - 10:00am

    Create your own 5-minute story to tell. Children each create their own unique tale while guided through 
    the use of Timm's Mini Book Maker worksheet, adding key words and check points to create the skeleton 
    of a great story! Once the stories are created, participants are invited to tell their stories to the group or 
    have Timm perform their stories with interactive sounds effects and actions! Attendees must be able to 
    write words on their own or have a parent with them to assist. Presented by local author Timm Holmes. 
    Ages 7-12. Registration required.
