    Celebrate National Poetry Month with the library!

    Join us at the Rideau branch for a morning of poetry reading and discussion in a casual setting.

    Come with one or more poems of your choosing to share and discuss with the group. These can be poems that you have written, or ones that you enjoy by another writer.

    Rejoignez-nous à la succursale Rideau pour une matinée de lecture de poèmes et de discussion dans un environnement décontracté.

    Venez avec un ou plusieurs poèmes de votre choix à partager et à discuter avec le groupe. Il peut s'agir de poèmes que vous avez écrits ou de poèmes d'un autre auteur que vous appréciez.

    Les poèmes et les discussions se dérouleront principalement en anglais.

    Did you know that 2025 marks the 95th anniversary of the publication of the first Nancy Drew novel? We will be joined by local author, Nancy Lauzon, for a discussion on all things Nancy Drew, from the origins of the series to Nancy Drew Sleuth conventions!  Nancy will also bring her varied Nancy Drew collection for perusing. We hope to see you there!​

    Retired teacher, mental health counselor, and local author Karl Flanagan discusses his compelling biography, “Good Bad Good Bad Good”, taking us on an exploration of ethics, morality, and survival while growing up in foster care.

    Karl Alexander Flanagan became a psychologist, psychometrist and teacher. In pursuit of helping young children, he became a director on the board for a chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), a director of a youth detention centre, and an educator for elementary to university levels. He lives with his wife, Suzanne, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

    Registration required. Please note that content discussed may include sensitive topics; discretion is advised.
