Soliciting and Petitioning Policy

OPL provides services in keeping with its mandate under the Public Libraries Act (PLA) to allow the public to "reserve and borrow circulating materials; and use reference and information services (PLA R.S.O. 1990, c. P.44, s. 23 (2)). Services are also provided according to OPL’s mission to inspire learning, spark curiosity, and connect people.

In view of these priorities, OPL does not permit solicitation or petitioning in the Library or on Library property.

Requests for exceptions to this policy must be submitted in writing to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for review, and consideration. The CEO will consider the merits of the request and may bring the request forward to the Library Senior Management Team (LSMT) for consideration and approval.
