Bookmobile service this week (June 3-7, 2013): pilot project

The set-up at Farley Mowat stop, as of 4pm today! Spot team member Paul....

We're driving down some new roads this week at Bookmobile Services.

Our two Bookmobiles are off the road at present, one undergoing scheduled repairs and one with an unexpected issue. Building on a pilot project we tried last Friday at our Bridlewood stop, we will be offering modified services at some stops today (Monday):

  • Chapman Mills Public School: 2-3pm
  • Farley Mowat School: 3:30-4:30 pm only

We would much rather be out on the road, and we know you would rather we are out on the road as well! To make this possible, we have (temporarily) obtained a smaller van to provide limited services at some stops.

Where possible, with the van, we will be bringing requests, Express collections and a selection of items from other collections. We will also be doing renewals, accepting returns and providing limited Info services. This pilot also relies on the support of community partners such as schools and community centres, the City's Fleet Services, and our dedicated team at Bookmobile. We're still working out all the kinks, but this is an interesting pilot project and we appreciate everyone's support as we find the best way to maintain some services during challenging periods.

Watch the blog for further detailed updates this week as they become available, but don't forget that the best place for real-time updates is our Twitter account, @OttBkMobileBus, which feeds into the OPL website as well.
