Scène et Pages est un partenariat entre la Bibliothèque publique d’Ottawa (BPO) et la Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC). Pour en savoir plus, consultez la page Scènes et Pages; vous y trouverez un lien vers notre liste de titres à découvrir pour chaque pièce de la saison 2018-2019. Ces ouvrages sont choisis par une équipe de bibliothécaires de la BPO exprès pour les adeptes de théâtre. N’hésitez pas à les emprunter pour pousser plus loin la réflexion sur les thèmes forts soulevés par les œuvres.

 

The Virgin Trial est la première pièce de la saison 2018-2019 de la GCTC. Suite de The Last Wife, de Kate Hennig, ce polar moderne porte sur la conspiration à laquelle seraient mêlés, selon la rumeur, la jeune Elizabeth Tudor (Bess) et Thomas Seymour (Thom).

 

Les interrogatoires subis par Bess sont entrecoupés de retours en arrière qui nous font revivre les trahisons dont on l’accuse. La pièce traite de scandale politique, de consentement, de l’humiliation des victimes et de l’autonomisation de la femme.

As part of the Ottawa Public Library's “Stages and Pages” partnership with the Great Canadian Theatre Company, we have compiled this list to accompany the production of, The Virgin Trial, which opens at the GCTC on September 11, 2018.
