New variant, new restrictions. This is certainly not the way we wanted to spend our holidays, but our teen volunteers decided to make the best of a bad situation. In the spirit of giving, they decided to bring smiles to the faces of our elders.
Just two weeks before the library volunteer meetings were canceled, the Greenboro Teen Advisory Group had the brilliant idea to make greeting cards for seniors living in one of our neighbourhood retirement homes. With the help of community artist Saher Beg, a group of ten young students invested their free time and creativity to make handmade greeting cards. In the space of two weeks, 70 cards were ready and delivered to the reception of the retirement home where they were quarantined to be offered to the residents. This warm gesture was a spark of joy for us in the library and hopefully brings a spark of joy to the eyes of our elders as well.
