Nepean Township 1792-2017

Officially established in 1792, Nepean celebrates 225 years of existence in 2017!

To commemorate, the Nepean Museum has created a wonderful series of informational exhibition panels, currently on loan to the Nepean Centrepointe branch of the Ottawa Public Library.  The exhibition articulates the humble early roots of Nepean Township, or Township "D" as it was originally known, which the Earl of Dalhousie described as "a useless waste" of swamp and trees wherein it remained largely unpopulated until 1810.

Come in to discover our community's rich history, & also to explore the Local History & Genealogy Research Centre located on the second floor of the Library!
