Feel Safer Online with a New Tool

Have you ever wondered if you should open that email? Regretted clicking a link?

It’s happened to the best of us.

Protecting your identity and personal information online is a struggle for many people – especially now that we’re accessing the internet from an increasing amount of sources.

Do you know how to protect yourself from an app requesting too much information? How to protect your personal information when using a tablet?

Things have just gotten a lot easier!

Security Planner is a new, free online tool developed by The Citizen Lab, a group based out of the University of Toronto. Security Planner gives you personalized advice and recommendations for your online safety concerns. The website doesn’t collect any of your data and by answering a few simple questions (three easy to understand question) you will receive expert advice.

The website is currently only available in English, but an update to include French is coming soon.

You can learn more about protecting your computer at one of our three upcoming sessions of Protecting Your Computer this winter presented by the Ottawa PC User's Group.

What an awesome website! I will definitely be bookmarking this one.
