  • Sensory Storytime

    Join us for a program that features:

    · dimmed lighting

    · sensory toys

    · a smaller number of participants

    · an adapted circle time with stories, rhymes and songs

    During this program there will be opportunities for open play and a chance to connect with other families. The circle time portion of this program is offered in the last 20 minutes of the session. A family member must be present for the duration of the program.

    This program provides a welcoming environment and respects the needs of children from 18 months to 6 years who live with developmental disabilities and/or autism, or who show signs of a developmental delay.

    To ensure success with your plants and garden, it is important to master the basics of gardening. Paying attention to the basics is the best way to have healthy, well-grown plants.  Topics covered include: soil and soil conditions, watering, soil amendments and fertilization, pests and diseases, plant selection and planting.

    Join us for a viewing of Elsewhere, a documentary trilogy by Lynda Hall.

    This trilogy explores themes of belonging, of attachment to places, of ruptures in our lives, and how a connection to family can help define us, all explored through the lens of adoption.

    The film will be preceded by a short introduction to provide a personal context for the making of this work and followed by an open discussion with the audience.

    Registration is recommended Drop-in welcome.

    Get up close and personal with your photographic subjects such as flowers, insects, water droplets, or detailed parts of larger subjects or scenes. Learn how to isolate your subject from the background, and control how much of the image is in sharp focus. You can shoot up close with regular lenses and cell phones but Lynda will also include a discussion about using dedicated macro lenses. Presented by Lynda Buske from the Ottawa PC Users' Group and the Orleans Photo Club.

    Join us for a paper quilling craft! We will be making spring-themed post cards (which would make a beautiful Mother's Day gift).

    All supplies (scissors, paper, glue, quills) will be provided but you are also welcome to bring your own materials. ​All you need to bring is yourself!

    No experience necessary.

    Learn the basics of using a sewing machine and craft your very first project: a drawstring bag. This two-hour session will take you through the steps of setting up, threading, and using a sewing machine. 

    The same lesson takes place once a month. Please register for one session only. Registration limited to 5 spaces.
