    Meet the amazing reptiles, small mammals, amphibians and invertebrates from a variety of ecosystems around the world. You’ll learn about their behaviour, their habitats, conservation, and why they got so big. You will also explore some of the unique mechanisms of self-defence that reptiles, mammals and invertebrates have evolved. Why are ferrets so flexible? What do tarantulas do to protect themselves from predators? Find the answers to these questions and more in this exploration of amazing animal adaptations and instincts! Family program for ages 4+.

    Please note: This is a hybrid program.  The presenter is remote and will be on-screen in the Hazeldean Program Room.

    Come join award-winning author & illustrator Rob Justus for a goofy character draw-along. Rob will highlight some of his work, but more importantly give a quick tutorial on some of the basics of drawing and creating fun-loving characters. These workshops are for any level of budding artists. Registration Required. Ages 8-12.

    In this mask-making workshop facilitated by Ottawa Art Therapy Inc, participants will take a creative journey to express and uncover the layers of their true self, what is important to them, and the parts of their world where they find connection. The participants will be working with a variety of materials, allowing a multi-media approach to their process. This dynamic workshop offers not only artistic fulfillment but also a deeper understanding of who they are and a time to tap into their inner artist and connect with others on a similar journey. Ages 7-12.

    For this program, Parrot Partners will bring at least 3 parrots, from different areas of the world, ranging in size from very small and ‘spunky’ to massive and ‘mellow.’  We introduce each parrot, one at a time, and share interesting and entertaining facts and stories about their natures and lives in the wild and in our homes.   Participants will be offered the opportunity to give our parrots a treat or drink from a safety cup or feeding skewer, as well as pose for photos with the parrots. Family program for ages 4+. 

    Parrot Partners is the only rehabilitation program for Parrots in Canada that combines professional training, education, and rehabilitation in the charitable service of relinquished and misunderstood parrots.

    Jump, shoot, roll and glide; can you find the science in sport? Take a test to discover where your dominance lies. Create a sculpture to investigate how throwing a ball affects your balance. Discover physics by engineering a better hockey puck and building a mini golf course. Join us as we shoot, score and explore the science of sport. Presented by Scientists in Schools. Ages 8-12.
