Produced and led in partnership with Possible Worlds.
Zines (pronounced zeens) are self-published, non-commercial, handmade booklets. They are vehicles for sharing information and for marginalized voices to express themselves. Zines are often created using cut-and-paste techniques, then photocopied for distribution.
Join Possible Worlds Co-Director Melanie Yugo and and local artist Kayla Eli at Zine Club to meet up, share and collaborate on zines. Participants will create their own zine using the one-sheet technique and artist prompts. Participants are encouraged to bring zines from their collection for inspiration and discussion.
Basic materials and tools (paper, pencils, markers, scissors, glue) will be provided, but participants may bring their own materials (e.g. markers, pencil crayons, watercolours, glue, images).
Free to participate. No experience required. Program is for participants aged 18 & up.
Registration preferred. Drop-ins welcome, subject to room capacity.
Do you love to write? Is writing the air you breathe, or is there ink in your veins?
The Stittsville Creative Writing Group is a collection of people who love to write.
We meet weekly to read from text we have written on our own time during the previous week, and engage in other writing activities.
This is not a class on writing, or a workshop for manuscripts. Instead, we are people who love to write and share our works.
There are those who mostly listen rather than write, those who write prolifically but only share with the group, and a broad spectrum in between.
If your interest is in the love of writing, this group may be for you.
