Hunt Club-Riverside Park Community Centre (3320 Paul Anka Drive).
A new type of library service, with automated holds pickup lockers and vending-machine style library material dispenders, the first of their kind in Canada.
Kiosk services are an alternative service model, comprised of several complimentary components: two lending library kiosks, holds pick-up lockers and a returns bin. Kiosk services are available at the Hunt Club-Riverside Park Community Centre (3320 Paul Anka Drive).
Library material dispensers
These dispensers are a vending-machine style delivery system for library books. There are two kiosk dispensers with specialized popular collections for children and adults.
Customers can borrow items from the machine by scanning their library card and punching in the row number of the item they wish to borrow. The desired item will “fall” into a receptacle at the bottom of the kiosk and a receipt is also available from the machine. It is important to note that Kiosk collection items cannot be requested or renewed.
Holds pick-up lockers
Items from across the library can be picked at Hunt Club Riverside Park Community Centre during the Centre’s open hours using the holds lockers. Customers request items through the library website to be picked up from the lockers, by choosing the pick-up location HRL. Alternatively, customers should select the pick-up location of HRAL if they have accessibility needs, which limits their ability to reach or bend for locker use, as this will ensure that items are placed in one of the lockers in the middle six rows.
Customers will receive a notification when their hold is available for pick up from the locker. It will be held in the locker for 7 days and is accessible during the community centre’s open hours. Holds must be picked up before 12pm on the day of expiry. Customers retrieve holds by scanning their card which will automatically open the appropriate locker and check out the items to their card. Unwanted holds that have automatically been checked out can immediately be put in the returns bin at the HCRPCC.
Customers can return items from any branch, Bookmobile stop, or Kiosk machine into the returns bin at the Hunt Club Riverside Park Community Centre. Returns are checked in at regular intervals and are backdated in order to prevent fines accruing on customer accounts.
The Hunt Club Bookmobile stop provides service adjacent to the centre on Wednesday mornings from 10:30am - 12pm. The closest branches to Hunt Club Riverside Park Community Centre are Greenboro (363 Lorry Greenberg Drive) and Alta Vista (2516 Alta Vista Drive).
