For June, we'll be having a BYOB party... Bring Your Own Book Party, that is! Whether it be an old favourite, or something new and amazing that recently crossed your path, we want to see what you recommend everyone should read and hear why you loved it. À propos du livre
Making Love with the Land pose un regard surprenant, éclairé et sans complaisance sur le parcours des personnes autochtones « en rupture » avec les identités. En 10 récits non romanesques poignants et originaux, le romancier primé Joshua Whitehead raconte la complexité de notre époque, où Autochtones et non-Autochtones tentent d’y voir plus clair dans le concept de « territoire », entre nouvelles approches et références anciennes. Il interroge notre relation à la terre et notre responsabilité envers elle. Comment la terre a-t-elle façonné nos concepts, nos histoires, nos langues et même nos corps?
À propos de l’auteur
Joshua Whitehead (il) est un artiste bispirituel, membre oji-nêhiyaw de la Première Nation de Peguis sur le territoire du Traité no 1. Il œuvre comme professeur adjoint à l’Université de Calgary au sein des départements d’anglais et d’études internationales autochtones, sur le territoire du Traité no 7.
Full-metal indigiqueer, son recueil de poésie paru en 2017 chez Talonbooks, a été en lice pour le prix Voix autochtones et le Prix de poésie Stephan G. Stephansson. Il est aussi l’auteur de Jonny Appleseed (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2018) qui s’est retrouvé sur la liste préliminaire du prix Giller et a été finaliste aux prix Voix autochtones, aux Prix littéraires du gouverneur général, au Prix du premier roman d'Amazon Canada et au Prix littéraire Carol-Shields de la ville de Winnipeg. Il a remporté le Prix littéraire Lambda pour la fiction gay, le Prix Georges-Bugnet pour la fiction et le concours littéraire Canada Reads 2021.
