Spotlight on Francophonie: OPL celebrates Francophonie Month

Ottawa – This March, the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is celebrating Francophonie Month with a full schedule of programs showcasing Canada’s Francophone talent.

On Saturday, March 7, the St-Laurent branch will present When Awareness Sparks Action, a screening of four NFB short films from the winners of a competition for Francophone-minority filmmakers in Canada. The following week, on Saturday, March 14, the Beaverbrook branch will present the film screening Little Lessons Lead to Big Things.

Parents can keep their little ones entertained over March breakat their local branch. From March 16 to 20, we’re offering a range of exciting activities in French, including storytimes, jig and Afro-Antillean dance workshops, and more. Registration required.

The Croisée des motsliterature series will host a happy hour with Danièle Vallée on Tuesday, March 17. Joined by Hugues Beaudoin-Dumouchel, the author will discuss her journey, her inspirations, and her most recent book, Juré, craché!, published by Éditions David. Registration required.

On Friday, March 20, come celebrate International Francophonie Day with OPL! Join us at the National Arts Centre at noon for a performance from Claude and Carlos, founding members of Les Petites Tounes. This family event will delight kids and kids at heart.
