    Design with Sphero Indi, the colour-sensing robot car! Kids will design mazes and guide Indi using colour tiles while learning coding basics and problem solving! Presented by Carleton University’s Virtual Ventures STEM Outreach program. Ages 6-10.

    Discover the surprising science hiding in a bag of Skittles. Explore solubility, buoyancy, reactivity and investigate the odds of finding your favourite colour. How sweet it is! Presented by Scientists in School. Ages 8-12.

    Registrants will be contacted before this program to arrange branch pick-up of a materials kit.  One kit per registrant.

    Who knows where your creation will take you?  In this session we will be looking at the night sky and be using art supplies to create our own night sky.

    Embark on a space adventure. We will playing space games and doing some crafts. Carp Ages 5-9. Registration Required.

    This is the same program being offered at Beaverbrook and Hazeldean for ages 7-9;

    and at Carp, Constance Bay and Fitzroy Harbour for ages 5-9.

    Space exploration requires complex robotics and constant technological innovation. From rockets and rovers to satellites and orbiters there is all sorts of robotics inventions in space. This workshop presents the various forms of robotics used in space exploration and challenges participants to design and prototype their very own space robot. Presented by the Canada Science and Technology Museum! Ages 8-12.

    For this program, Parrot Partners will bring at least 3 parrots, from different areas of the world, ranging in size from very small and ‘spunky’ to massive and ‘mellow.’  We introduce each parrot, one at a time, and share interesting and entertaining facts and stories about their natures and lives in the wild and in our homes.   Participants will be offered the opportunity to give our parrots a treat or drink from a safety cup or feeding skewer, as well as pose for photos with the parrots. Family program for ages 4+.

    Welcome some poultry from the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum into your library visit! Listen to them cluck and coo, touch their soft feathers and watch them scratch and peck. Through fun educational activities, students explore the characteristics, needs and lifecycle of these barnyard favourites. Family program for ages 4+.

    Come meet the creatures who walk among us. There will be stories, songs and parachute fun. We will look at real animals that resemble aliens, make a space aliens craft, and navigate a huge bouncy planet obstacle course. Ages 4-6. Registration Required.
