    Cet atelier d'introduction au mode de vie zéro déchet présente les règles de base du zéro déchet et comment les appliquer dans sa vie quotidienne. Réduire ses déchets, c'est bon pour l'environnement, mais c'est aussi bon pour soi. Viens apprendre pourquoi! 

    Chaque minute, l'équivalent d'un camion poubelle de déchets est déversé dans l'océan. La plupart de ces déchets sont des emballages plastiques qui finissent dans l'estomac des oiseaux, poissons et mammifères marins. Pour en finir avec la pollution plastique, il faut agir à la source. Adopter un mode de vie zéro déchet, c'est réduire le montant de ses déchets, jusqu'à un seul bocal de déchets par an pour certains! Incroyable, mais pas si compliqué que ça.

    A Digital Story is a powerful Media and Digital Literacy activity, created by weaving digital photographs, video, voice, text and music into a digital video project. Participants will get the chance to reflect on the self and identity.

    This personal narrative documentary workshop provides an easily-accessible opportunity to reflect on your own strengths, culture, responsibilities, and dreams for your future.

    For ages 13-18. Returning film makers who participated last summer are welcome! Presented by Hands On Media.

    Each participant will need: One iPad, laptop, Chromebook or desktop computer.

    • Monday: Pre-Production: Brainstorming ideas, Storyboarding our narration.
    • Wednesday: Production: Photography Composition, collecting elements we need.
    • Friday: Post-Production: Recording our voice, using iMovie to edit, adding sound & titles.

    Registration required. Registrants will receive an additional email with the Zoom link ahead of the program.

    Curious about Dungeons and Dragons? Give it a try with this one-session-long adventure for beginners!

    D&D is a popular fantasy role-playing game in which you play a character who teams up with other players to explore, solve puzzles, and fight or outwit monsters. Learn the basic rules of this popular game as you undertake an adventure with fellow players!

    This adventure uses pre-generated characters, so you must register by July 6th to bid of your preference of character and get your info sheet before game-day. Late registrations will be assigned a random character.

    Ages: 12-18

    Note: if you cannot attend this session, a repeat of this game will be offered on July 23rd! Please register for only one of the two sessions, since it would not be as fun knowing the puzzles and enemies ahead of time. Stay tuned for new games coming up later!

    Drop by to play some of the many games on our Oculus Rift system! Explore mountains or deep seas, ride roller coasters, soar as an eagle, challenge your agility with Beat Saber or Fruit Ninja, defend your castle as an archer or your spaceship with a laser, and many more! 

    All games are single-player with English dialogue/text.

    How it works: drop in during the session and write your name on the sign-up sheet to reserve a 10-minute time-slot (no sign-ups ahead of time)

    Safety tip: to prevent falls, wear closed flat shoes, not flip-flops or high heels

    Ages: 10 to Adult (headset may be too large to fit smaller players)

    We will provide yarn, needles, and crochet hooks – or bring your own!

    Do you love graphic novels? Do you have a super cool, super fantastic idea of your own? Come join award winning author, illustrator, nice guy Rob Justus for a fun workshop on how to create the greatest graphic novels ever!!! Learn how to create immersive worlds, detailed characters, and most importantly how to pace a story from panel to panel, and page to page. Bring a seedling of an idea and leave with a garden of graphic novel knowledge.  Ages 13-18.

    Take a step into the unknown...what will you discover? Drop-in program. Ages 10+ (teens welcome!). We will be making blackout poetry and fanzines! Come give old book pages new life by using them as canvases to illustrate your own poems or short stories. Alternatively, remix characters and worlds you already know and love into new stories, using drawing and collage techniques to make your own fan comicbook or fanfic booklet. End the activity by making photocopies of your work to swap with other participants or share with friends (up to 5 free photocopies per participant).

    Pars à la découverte de l’inconnu… Quelles découvertes t’attendent? Programme portes ouvertes. Pour les 10 ans et plus (ados inclus!). Nous allons créer de la poésie par soustraction (blackout poetry) et des fanzines! Venez donner nouvelle vie à des pages de vieux livres en les transformant en toile pour vos propres poèmes ou histoires courtes illustrées. Ou bien remixez des histoires et personnages que vous aimez déjà dans de nouvelles histoires, en utilisant des techniques de dessin et de collage pour créer votre propre bande-dessinée ou livret de fanfic. À la fin de l’activité, chaque participant aura l’opportunité de faire des photocopies de son œuvre pour l’échanger avec les autres participants ou la partager avec des amis (maximum de 5 photocopies gratuites par participant).
