Join local author Sneha Madhavan-Reese for “Using Science in Poems.”
How can the use of scientific language elevate a poem? How can science be used as a handhold to bring a reader someplace new and unexpected? How can scientific facts in a poem add layers of meaning?
We will read and discuss published poems, have time for writing and sharing (if desired), and workshop a poem by each participant.
Please bring writing materials and a poem of your own (on any subject) for feedback from the group.
Sneha Madhavan-Reese is the author of two poetry collections, Observing the Moon and Elementary Particles. Her writing has appeared in publications around the world, including The Best Canadian Poetry in English 2016. She is the 2015 winner of Arc Poetry Magazine's Diana Brebner Prize, was shortlisted for the 2015 Montreal International Poetry Prize, and received an honourable mention at the 2018 National Magazine Awards.
