    Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes? Then come and meet with other food enthusiasts and put a cookbook to the test! Each month will be a different cookbook! We will then make recipes at home and share comments on the results with the group.

    No need to put a hold on a copy! You will get the cookbooks at the meetings.

    The Stittsville Creative Writing Group – Youth Program (SCWG-YP) is an extension of the adult program with the goals of: fostering creativity and literacy in the next generation, inspiring future writers, and preserving the art of the written word. 

    Participants are youth 13-17 years of age, unless granted an exemption. SCWG-YP participants and members meet once a month, on the third Monday of the month from 6:30pm-8:00pm, for a series of lectures and writing exercises designed to achieve the group’s goals. The group is led by an adult member of the SCWG.

    Deliverables undertaken by the SCWG-YP include: 

    · Discussion on writing theory;

    · Practical lessons on writing;

    · In-session and independent writing exercises; 

    · Appraisal and workshopping of ideas, and

    · Guidance on creative writing and practical advice about publishing.

    Meet new people and join in discussions on selected non-fiction titles in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

    April title: The Happiness Project, Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle and Generally Have More Fun by Gretchen Rubin

    Happiness Habits 613 is a grassroots crew in Ottawa cultivating healthy habits using the 9 pillars of happiness: altruism, connection, gratitude, movement, mindfulness, minimalism, nature, nutrition and purpose.

    Come draw, paint or sketch using different art mediums.  You are free to work on your own projects or create a new one.  Note that this is not an art lesson but rather an opportunity to try out different art material while meeting other teens who enjoy art.  Books and videos will be available to provide ideas and inspiration.  You can register for 1, 2 or all 4 sessions  For ages 13-17.
